Hi All,

I am considering a 2000 270 with an in-board.
It has a wing keel and a lot of extras.
Does anybody have any experience with this model?
Draw backs?

Thanks

I got to sail on one several years ago, unfortunately in very light winds, so can't help with the performance. The owner complained that the mainsheet location made it difficult to put anything more than a tiny bimini on it and he did not like the location of the winches in relation to the helm when single-handing, though I can't remember if the sheet winches were on the cabintop or just out of reach of the helmsman.

A 270 is a 260 with a keel. A good friend slips his 270 just across the dock from my 260, we sail both boats back and forth. His 270 has a 10 hp outboard.

The 270 is a bit stiffer for the first 5* but after that both boats seem about the same.

They are good boats, easy to sail, not a race boat but do perform very well in ight air.

Very roomy down below and in the cockpit. We have enjoyed living on our 260 with our dog for months at a time.

The winches are on the coach roof, not the best place for single handing the boat but lots of people do it. I replaced my winches with a pair of Andersen st's, makes it easier to trim.

The mainsheet can be moved forward on the boom to allow a very large bimini to be used (check out the pictures of the bimini in my photo album).

The 270 had a small traveller mounted on the bridge deck so it has large bimini as well.

The only draw back would be that it is not as easy to trailer with the keel.

If you buy it I don't think you will regret it, good luck, Bob

Thanks Bob 04.
I like what you have done to your boat, I will follow lead. I have young kids that I would like to take to the keys one day with this boat. Good to have some improvmnets that will make a big difference. Jeff
