I am looking to change out my original Raymarine52 VHF radio. The handset cable has deteriorated and it's time for a new one.
I would like to mount the new VHF in the cabin and just have a remote handset on the steering pedestal. It should free up some space and eliminate the UV problem.
Has anyone done this or any suggestions has to radios. Thanks for the help.

Done that and happy with myself. I have a ICOM VHF radio below in my 2009 Hunter 27 with a Command Mike on the steering station. I picked their smallest radio that still handles the Command Mike because I've found over the years for this brand to have the best speakers for me to understand without turning the volume up. My hearing isn't the best anymore.

I've not had any problems for the past five years.

If I were to do it again I would check to see if any of the ICOM radios now have a AIS feature as well.

Go with the Standard Horizon 2150
