We are packed up and headed to Spanish Ont to launch into the North Channel for a week of exploring.
Just wanted to say thanks to all who have answered all my questions and for all the post I have learned so much from. I will post when I can and let you all know how we are doing.
Gotta love a lady who suggests a sailing honeymoon!!!!

You are a wise man Kermit! Just wish I could say it was because of good reason but it isnt. The darn keel rubbed a hole in the keel trunk in the 900 mile road trip here. I fixed it once 2 years ago and adjusted the bunk boards to keep the keel away from the boat but that obviously wasn't enough. I thought about cutting the keel and reshaping it to get more clearance. Guess I should have done that.
We got on the water about 5 miles from spanish when I saw water on the floor. Looked in the keel locker and there was about 2 inches. Turned around and started bailing. Made it back to the channel just before dark and got her on the trailer. Made it to the parking area just as the mosquitos came out. Was nearly incapacitated by them putting the tent top up so we could stay on the boat. Had to put it up as it seals them out much better than the poptop. We managed to trap at least 500 in the boat. Spent the next hour in close quarters combat fighting for our lives. The inside of the boat looks like a crime scene of a mass stabbing this morning!
At one point during my complete and utter come apart Cindy had the nerve to tell me it wasn't that bad. To which i replied" Look around you Cindy, we're on the threshold of hell!!!!"
We made it through the night only to find the marina building closed due to power outage. All we could do was break down laughing.
We're in Sudbury now buying epoxy and supplies to hopefully try and stop the leak from inside. I know to fix it I need the keel out but no where around to do that.
We're making the best of it and I am so lucky to have found Cindy. Not only is she beautiful and fun, but she is the most understanding lady ever. She is an angel that walks amongst us. I just hate this for her. I worked so hard to pull off the wedding surprise and the honeymoon trip hoping to make it a time she will never forget. Pretty sure she wont forget this part of the trip, just not for the right reasons.
What little we got to see of the North Channel was beautiful. Hopefully we can get back out and see more.

Sam, down, but not out

The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is attitude.

I've been through several of both with my Admiral. She won't swim in lakes or ocean because "There's things in there that can EAT you!!!" On own honeymoon, I scheduled a snorkel trip just offshore of Oahu not knowing the depth of this fear. She was the last one off the boat making sure that no one before her was getting eaten. As I swam up to her, she grabbed my left hand and screamed "Don't you dare leave me!!!" It took two days before I could move my fingers again without pain. And I had to get my wedding band re-rounded as it became an oval that day.

So you might have had a less than perfect honeymoon but you didn't take your bride out into the ocean to get her eaten alive. :D

Ahem. Sam, you told your new bride you're "in the threshold of hell." On your honeymoon night! You need to make amends...now! Jeepers do I have to teach you everything!?

mosquito netting....

... keep it on the boat.... use it as a blanket... pull it over your head and go to sleeeeeeeeep (or whatever you do on a honymoon :) ..........it turns ordeals into adventures.... best investment you can make.... learned from experience.

It's all good Kermit. Actually we were married on Thursday night. We just had a good laugh after watching a movie by candle light. I told Cindy that when I envisioned romantic nights on the hook in the North Channel I thought we would be hooked to the anchor in a remote cove, not the hook on the winch of the trailer in the parking lot of the marina!
Going to test it in the morning. If it still leaks there is a place a mile up stream from Spanish with a lift.

Congratulations! Looks like you are living the dream! Don't worry about the hole in the boat, you've got a beautiful wife to spend the time with. Floating or not, you'll remember the whole thing and be happy you were together for all of it.
