Joe M,

I have a 75 Hunter 30 and have 2 questions. 1)How do you remove the centerboard for repairs ?? I've got no clue! 2)This boat has a keel stepped mast - should I see movement of the mast where it exits the cabin ?? Logic says yes, but everything nautical is not logical. Thanks in advance. Joe M.

Centerboard?

Joe, do you mean centerboard (a blade shaped foil that can be moved up and down) or a keel, over a ton of shaped lead bolted to the bottom of the hull? Although both serve to offset the sideways push of the wind, the keel also works to keep the hull upright. I am not aware that an early h30 had a centerboard, so if you have one, it may be a modification by a previous owner. David Lady Lillie '77 h27

Yes the 75 Hunter had a centerboard.

Yes the 75 Hunter did in fact have a centerboard (swing keel) if you look at the specs you will see 2 draft dimensions the higher is with the board down. Technically it is a swing keel since it is made of iron and is quite heavy. Mine is pitted and I would like to remove it this winter and sand/fill and seal it. Thanks Joe M.
