I would doubt it.

There is very little chance that this is going to be a slam dunk to swap out these engines. I doubt that the prop and shaft are going to be a match. Need a shorter shaft and a different prop. You can probably use the existing material but they will need modification. If you really want a good upgrade, look for a 2GM20F.

Have to disagree. . .

with Steve on this one. A good diesel for $1600?! I'd make it fit. I have a 2QM20 in my H37C('79) and it does real well with a two-blade folding prop given the 18000# displacement. I think the shaft length, having room for the stuffing box, would be the only obstacle. If you cannot find the exact dimensions on the site in the "Related Link" I have them at home. I have a 2QM 20. Strong engine. I agree with Ed for $1600, I would make it fit.

engine upgrade

You'll have to either repitch or replace your prop and, mabey shorten the shaft at the coupler end. It will fit in the engine room. I think this is a great upgrade because alot of the parts for the YSE, YSB, YSM series are NLA. Pat McCartin 1979 H30 "Therapy" Lake Lanier, GA
