I have a 1998 376 and the mast seems to have an excessive amount of bend. can anyone provide the best way to set it?

How much pre-bend do you think you have?
Bend being measured (estimated actually) by attaching the main halyard to the mast at the goose neck and then pulling it tight and estimating how far it is back from the mast about half way up.
I have my pre-bend set at about 6" and the 'rake' is set at about 6" also.
Rake being measured at the goose neck by hanging something quite heavy like a toolbox on the halyard and heaving it a few inches off the deck and then noting how far the halyard is back from the aft side of the mast.
Obviously one needs to induce a slight heel towards one so the halyard is free to come into line.
