I have been reading here for a while and can't find the answer, here is the question, on my just purchased 1996 h23.5 wb I have just replaced the center board rope as mine was week and stretched out. Will the rope pull the board all the way up level with the hull ? The boat is on my cat 22 wing keel trailer for now which is higher bunks there for the center board will be high. I am looking for a proper trailer now but till then. It seems to be a tough bugger to pull up even with the block set up. Is this normal? Thank you Alan

Yep it Won't

Save your new line by bracing up the centerboard with a board across the trailer for it to rest on. An old line all the way under and across the boat may work as well.

Will the rope pull the board all the way up level with the hull ? Mine does not when sitting on the trailer as I'm looking at it now through the door it hangs down almost 10"inches maybe, Ive never seen the rudder go up inside the hull enough to be flush with the hull

The centerboard does not go flush up into the hull.

thank you all, this is my first wb and center board boat I have had swing keel as you know the cable is at the rear and will pull the keel all the way. This rope set up on the hunter seems like a very poor idea. Alan

It takes some effort to pull up by hand, maybe 50 pounds of pull. If it is real hard to budge, there is a pulley underneath that is probably jammed. The pulley is on a round piece of stainless between the metal that surrounds the centerboard. That round piece is a bit short on my boat so it likes to fall out on 1 side. I'm planning to replace with a longer piece the next time it is in the air. This is my 15th season and nothing has been replaced yet.

I had replaced the rope and the pully is fine, what I was wondering is if the board was straight with the hull when full up. like a swing keel with rear cable pull which pulls the keel up into the hull with about 8" the length showing. I feel it must as there is a slot in the hull for the board and the boat is supposed to sit low on a tailer. I can't see that hunter wants the center board to hit the trailer each time you pull it on? Alan

I have a 1993 H23.5 that is no longer seaworthy due to core disintegration. I am parting it out. The trailer is the one that came with the vessel and is available if you are interested. I had new surge brakes installed and had a welder re-enforced the axle the year the damage was discovered (2008). It also has bearing buddies. Let me know if you are interested.
