I have a bent mast on my 1994 H26 and need to replace it. Unfortunately Charleston Spar doesnt have it in stock and they have a boat on its way from France that might have one but if they dont it will mean I miss most of the summer on the boat. Where can I find a used mast in good condition maybe as a hurricane salvage where the body was toasted but the mast survived just fine? Anyone please?

US spars

Your mast was originally a Z Spar but they dare not show their face in the US. I will leave that one alone. You can get the replacement spar or mast from US spars. Ask for Julian 800-928-0786. US Spars is the old Z spar mast Hope this helps

Insurance wont pay for all new

If I use Z Spar I need to replace the boom and all fitings and stays... the insurance company will pay for a mast, not my convenience. Seriously, every 94 Hunter 26 ever built is not in service. And one of them has a mast in good shape somewhere. How do I find it?

Are you sure.....

Are you sure that the boom was not damaged? Wink Wink. It may need to be replaced also. Wink Wink. What about the standing rigging? Insurance companies and adjusters are graded on how fast the dispose of claims. They can be dealt with, you have the ability to negotiate. Letting them know you are willing to drag your feet on signing off on the claim may work. Show a little backbone. Call every day, nicely infer you are willing to work with them, but they must fulfill their contract. Next, Threaten to complain to the state insurance commissioner and file an E & O (all agents carry errors and omissions coverage, it is like malpractice insurance) claim on your agent. After all, you were under the impression that this situation, which is not uncommon in the sailing world, would be FULLY covered. You paid the premium, now it is the insurance companies job to fulfill the contract. Wink Wink. This works with 99% of the companies. Advice from a retired insurance agent.

I have Isomat Spars on my h26 '94

Don't know if they are original, rigrite.com states they have them. My boat is one of the older '94s. I have been told that Isomat has been out of business for a while. You can google boat salvage yards and call them but that may not be the way to go. alan

call Hunter

I have read the responses. Z Spar supplied those masts originially unless my memory is gone over to the deep end. I suggest that you contact Hunter with the year and Hull number and they can advise you. Z Spar in the late 90's purchases Kenyon Isomat. They let go all the employees except for four who moved to Charlotte, NC. The employees from Kenyon Isomat were let go to. For months it was a disaster as many dealers waited on masts to include myself for 6 months. This is when Hunter switched to Selden and have been happy with them ever since. Z Spar of course then got into trouble and behind on their bills. The creditors then came after them and Z Spar departed the USA. US Spars buys their masts from Z Spar in France. You have the contact info for US spars. IF the boat mast has been replaced with Charletson Spar and they are in Charlotte, NC. Call Jim at Charleston Spar which is formely Kenyon Isomat folks. Call Hunter. You apparenetly do not know who I am but just ask about Crazy DAVE Condon.
