It has been a few months since I bought my 23.5 and I love it. So much it nearly cost me a girlfriend but that is besides the point. I have a few questions for you guys regarding my wish lists for the boat:

1) striping. The original hunter striping is old, cracking, and in my opinion tacky. i would like to remove the old and replace with new. Any tips for removing the old stickers and placing the new? Also, I'm looking for ideas regarding stripes ( one/two/three stripes, colors, ect). Jib and companionway cover is burgundy.

2) teak cup holders. The cup holders in the cockpit are cracked and falling apart. I searched sailboatowners.com but couldn't find replacements. Any recommendation on where to find new ones?

3) boat grills. Any recommendations? I would like something the clips onto the railing. Magma grills seem to be very expensive with less than stellar reviews.

I'm planning on camping out for a night or two this weekend. I've never camped on a boat before. Any tips on what to bring and look for?

Thanks in advance.

2. My 23.5 only had cupholders in the sternrail seats. If that's where yours are, I think these will work:

3. I got great use out of the alcohol stove. I also have a Magma grill and like it. Its been around along time and parts are easy to find.

Camping... Bring: Beer. A cooler for the beer. Lots of ice for the cooler for the beer... A fan. Maybe get or fashion a windscoop for the front hatch. Use an anchor alarm on your GPS/iPhone/iPad.

On removing decals. Careful use of a heat gun makes peeling them off pretty easy. You may have to buff the boat to make where they were less noticeable.

+1 on the beer. Make it good beer...no cheap stuff.

Bring a good anchor and set it well. LED bulbs in the cabin and an LED bulb in the mast light will use a lot less power than the incandescents that come with the boat. We also added a 15 watt solar panel for battery charging.

One other thing. It's probably not bug season yet, but when it is.. We got a mosquito net and just draped it over the pop top canvas for the hatch and let it drape over the cabin entrance. I also cut a piece of screen for the forward hatch and held it in place with velcro. Worked great. The mosquito net may have looked a little ghetto, but it was a lifesaver.

The sticky residue left by the deacals can be removed by use of acetone or using some cleaner wax. If compounding, the residue gummed up the pad fast and I learned years ago not to do that.

When you do take the old striping off, I suggest marking the line to reference where to place new ones but the choice and the number of striping is your decision. If the site here cannot help you, then look into automotive striping. I think West Marine has some too.

Johann is correct about this site"s cupholders. What many do not realize, Hunter worked with this site to take over the retail parts and many are very pleased that this occured. Phil Herring gets the atta boy award along with the rest of his crew. Great Job guys.

Losing the Hunter "swoosh" decal in favor of a wide cove stripe, transformed for the better the look of my 23.5 at least to my taste. I paid a pro to do it with a matching water line and I am most pleased with the results and the many compliments I've received on the boat's appearance

Kind regards

Hugh

Hugh is right on. Thank you for that testimonial. I never cared for that swoosh or whatever you want to call it as I thought it looked nutty just like me. Har Har
