I purchased a 1993 hunter 23.5 about a year ago. It was sitting in a boat yard in Jacksonville Florida for about 2 years prior and sat in my backyard for another year. Now I want to begin the process of getting her in the water. I need to rerun all lines as they are in bad shape and I wouldn't trust them under sail or to raise the mast. Anybody have any ideas about how to rerun the lines? Who in the local area should I look for to help with this. I sailed as a kid but haven't sailed since (About 25 years)any ideas on refresher books or courses to make me safe for all around me would be a great help. Thanks in advance for the help.

Replacing Lines

Butt the old line to the new using a large paper clip to join them by opening up the clip and weavining the "hook" on either end thru the old and the new lines. Then wrap the pieces together with a good plastic/vinyl tape. Be cautious about increasing the diameter too much. Then just pull it through and detach. You will them be all set. This is more fully described many time in the archives.

93 H23.5

John, My "93" H23.5 is sitting in my driveway. I'm just north of Jax, off of exit 3 (I95) in GA. If you need to come up and look at anything, or want to go sailing, let me know. Paul's tape and paperclip idea should work well. I'll remember it. My CB line will need replacing before too long. Next year, I'll probably keep my boat on the trailer at NAS JAX. The have a nice storage yard next to to ramp. Good luck and let me know if I can help with anything. Mike Howell

just remember

paper clip and tape is a good idea. Just remember, don't pull hard. It is does not go thru, adjust and try again. Clif

I have had my 23.5 for about 3 years.

It is a 93 as well. I got everything I needed at West Marine. Here is a link to a few notes on hat we did.
