Does anybody have experience doing this? It appears the throttle cable runs above the molded headliner but the shift cable runs under the bed. We can probably get the old cable out after attaching a pull line but we are not sure the new cable will be able to be pulled back through. It looks like it might be easier to route the new cable under the bed.

If the route is suitable for the shifter, it's good enough for the throttle. No sharp bends, twists or other obstacles.

Out of curiosity, it might be a good idea to see if you can figure WHY the throttle was was run in the ceiling. Factory original or a refit by a previous owner ?

Check the new throttle cable to see if it's got a gland (O ring) around the inner SS wire at the "pull" end . Ensure it is well lubricated with NON petroleum grease to keep any water out.

I think the throttle cable in the ceiling was original. It is red. In my experience replacements are often both black. We have to pull both cables up about 8 inches in the binnacle to separate the throttle cable from the retaining clip. That means we have to disconnect the shifter cable from the bracket by the transmission which is very badly corroded. Going to try to disconnect the whole bracket from the engine. It's super hot today and I am 6'5 280 lbs. Hot Boat Yoga.

Holy crap. Does NOT sound like fun. I had some small cosmetic fiberglass work to do today and it was 78 deg. F. Thought I would melt or the gel coat was going to burst into flames. We live in igloos up here and I'm just not made for hot weather.

Be sure to install the cable so that it lasts forever.

We replaced our a few years back along with the shift cable and it was fairly straightforward. The original cables were black, the replacements are red.
Once they exit the bottom of the binnacle, they run thru the steering access panel in the cockpit deck, then into the aft port locker where the batteries are locate. From there, they run down under the aft berth and into the engine compartment.

That seems to make more sense but in this 30T the red throttle cable is in the ceiling above the one piece molded headliner. It seems to be tied in there somehow we can't get it out. I have done throttle and shift cables before in other boats but never saw this. It must have been put in before the deck went on.
