we have a problem,the 22 fott catalina we baught has 1 back stay and ive only seen 22's with split backstays and ours has only one,i asume its ok because it has a holding wire for the boom at rest,do we need to change the back stay?
Hello, My 1991 C22 has only a single backstay. It is connected near swin ladder, on the port side, not exactly in the middle. It seems to work fine. Barry

My 1980 c22 came with the single back stay but iI changed it to a split backstay for 2 reasons. One it makes it easier to adjust the rake of the mast in changeing wind condtions and two it makes it easier to step the mast if I let all the tension off. (it also makes me feel like its a big boat)
