I am in the process of replacing a leaky (after replacing most hoses, I am sure) aluminum holding tank. Because of the acidic nature of waste and the 12 years old aluminum tank, I am assuming the tank is severely corroded and there is likely a crack in the tank. I am interested in replacing the tank with a thick walled (3/8") HDPE plastic tank. I contacted Hunter, and they said I could have a new aluminum tank cusom built, or try to find a HDPE palstic tank that would fit. I have contacted Raritan, looking for a similar size replacement and they do not appear to have one that is close enough. I am looking for an 18 gallon replacement tank with the dimensions of (18" high x 18" long x (19" wide top tapering to 7" wide at the bottom)). Can anyone refer me to other holding tank manufactures that may have a selection of unique sizes that I may be able to fiond a suitable replacement? If I can't find an HDPE replacement, I will then have a custom aluminum tank made, but I would prefer plastic. Has anyone with an 1989 H30 or other similar vessel had a similar experience with replacing their old aluminum holding tank? Any advice that you could pass along? Dave

Ronco Plastics...

They make TOP quality, thick-walled roto-molded tanks, and have more than 400 shappes and size--over 100 of which are non-rectangular--to choose from..and for a VERY reasonable price. I'd bet they have one that will fit your space. And you can spec your own fittings sizes and locations, to be installed by them when the tank is made. Their catalog is on their website at: http://www.ronco-plastics.com They're great people to work with, and a tank from them will cost you about 1/4 of what it would cost to have any custom tank made.

I tried Ronco for a Passage 42 tank and they were very responsive but didn't have anything that would work. They referred me to Duracast www.duracast.com who was also very helpful but unfortunately did not have anything either. So I'm back to either Hunter/aluminum or custom. Good luck.

Not necessarily...

Let's look for another location for a tank. Just because Hunter put it one place doesn't mean it's the only place it can go--or even the best place for it.
