I'm having a start problem on my Catalina 30.The solenoid clicks but does not engage the starter. The starter spins when hot wired. The in line fuse gets warm.I cleaned the connections but still only clicks.Battery voltage is ok but fuse voltage is only 7 volts.Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.Ron

Thanks Stu,Any thoughts on the fuse voltage and heating up?Could the lower voltage cause the solnoid to not extend far enough to engage the starter? The articles are very helpful. Thanks Ron

Ron, I think I ended up using a 20A fuse there, but as the last entry in that topic explains, it's pretty useless for safety if Ken's right. Check your main engine ground on the bell housing, most likely the port aft end. It may "look" good, but...pull on it, and if it disintegrates, guess what!?!:eek::eek:

That's what I'd try, first.

Thanks Stu.....The removal and cleaning of all the connections worked. The main leads to the engine looked good but once removed the bolt was not making good contact. Thanks again for the help.....Ron
