1987 Hunter 37 question

We're working with an owner who purchased a 37 that's had the centerline skylight replaced... poorly.

We don't have much in the way of information on this boat, but looking at photos it appears there is a "skylight" just forward of the companionway and two more on the port and starboard sides of the salon.

In the Legend series the skylight material was 1/4" acrylic that was textured and blasted to give it a frosted effect. Is that also true for the 37, or did they use a simple 3/8" acrylic sheet, like what was used on the fixed ports?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Gentlemen: I think Phil is referring to a 1987 Hunter 37 (non-Cherubini).

Phil: My friend has an '87 35 and they had a clear acrylic sky light on the cabin top and frosted plastic on the interior.

Yes, sorry, I have should have been more specific. The '87 is a contemporary of the Hunter 31 and 34, not a Cherubini design (that 37 was built prior to '87).

Thanks Steve, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Interesting. Have been active on SBO & never noticed anything about a non-Cherubini 37 before. Didn't know they existed

There aren't too many of them; they were in production for a short time before Hunter changed to the walk-thru transom and called it a 37.5.

There was the 35 & 37 in that era. They were transformed to the 35.5 and 37.5. There is a lot of confusion about these boats even by the people that own them.

Yes, there is. This particular customer thought he owned a 37.5. To make matters even more confusing, the Coast Guard documentation listed the LOA as 37.5. :)
