I'm thinking about buying a 1985-90 Hunter 40 or a 1986-89 Hunter 37. I've seen the interior/exterior profile of the hunter 40, but I can't find any thing for the 37. Can anyone suggest where i might find this kind of info.

Looked at one two weeks ago

Looked at one two weeks ago, 1990 model, has a somewhat dated outside appearance (small windows) , no steps around cut out of transom, early jump through type. Queen center line bed in aft cabin which is nice, but headroom all throughout the boat was low. I am 6'2 and hit my head on support ribs for deck. Has a walk through head from rear berth to salon like a 37.5 but smaller. V berth has door opening into main salon, setee on starboard, table with wrap around setee on port. The best interior feature of the boat was the nav station, very cool with its on seat. Overall I found the interior to be a little short on head room and short on natural light. Been told its a fast boat. The deck was easy to get about as it was mostly flat and of course large. If you could afford a 91 37.5 I would go for that, they look about 10 years newer in design.

I have a 87' Lenend 37

Have an 87' 37 since new and have the promotional brochure somewhere but have to dig it out. If you can wait a week or two, i'll dig it out, scan it and e-mail it to you. If you need any info now ask me....

Something else

I recently added an Autohelm 4000ST to our H34. The problem I encountered was not with the wheel, but with the pedistal. We have the Merriman pedistal that was standard on the H34's, I found the bracket will not line up properly with the mounting slot on the auto helm unit. I had to mount my bracket above the pipe and on to the aluminum forging that supports the hub of the wheel and the shift levers etc. I drilled and tapped the upper set of slots for 1/4 inch bolts, and shimmed the lower slots and used the screws that came with the unit. It works fine, but I had some moments that were almost to the point of throwing the whole thing overboard.

Where did you see the 40 profiles?

I have too have been looking at a late 80's 40 and can't find the interior/exterior info. Where did you find this? on the net? If so, can you give me the location, the HOW does not seem to have anything on the 40's.

Sandy, let's talk

Thanks for the lead. I have been furiously trying to see the H40 that I have found but have not been successful. The pictures at least gave me some idea what I'm bargaining for. Yours looks to be a real beauty. I would like to ask you more specific questions if you're willing to answer them. Particularly if you have had a/the survey and what the findings are. As a Hunter owner I know there can be hidden bugs in these boats. I am curious what you have found. My email is dcdon@hotmail.com is you will communicate I'd appreicate it. Thanks.

Similar to 37.5

If you can find a brochure for a 37.5, you will find the layout nearly the same except the master cabin berth will be transverse rather than centerline. Capacities and specs are virtually identical.
