1986 Oday 28 Ice box drain hose location

Ok I have a question. I'm hoping someone can solve the mystery! I have a 1986 Oday 28 and does anyone know....from the factory where was ice box drain hose SUPPOSED to go? Was it supposed to go into the bilge OR to a pump that drained into the sink...

Currently (I know there has been lots of other posts on this, but I'm looking for information on how this was set up originally... just curious), mine is stuck into the floor, under the galley sink and I'm sure is supposed to end up draining into the bilge even though you can't see where it 'ends in the bilge' (scary like where's it DRAINING!) I don't really care if it goes into the bilge; because there is never any food or milk etc that would be draining into the bilge, I just don't want my floor getting constantly dampened every time we sail.. but I don't see any pump under the sink that would be sending it somewhere. Confusing...

I'm asking this because I've noticed that when the ice melts in the ice box and we are sailing and heeled over I can see the floor just above the very aft bilge compartment seems wet, if I don't use the icebox while sailing the floor stays dry.

I know this hose somehow probably ended up in the bilge and is of ample length to 'reach' the bilge but you can't see the end...where is it going? Today I pulled it out because I wanted to see if maybe it was cracked and leaking thus sending water where it isn't supposed to go, and thus resulting in my floor seeming wet on the very aft...nothing wrong with the hose other than it's kinda gross.

So...where was the hose SUPPOSED to be and where was my hose draining to? I know you have to be careful taking that hose off in case it's below water line...anyone know where this hose was originally from factory, or were it needs to go? I feel like I can't use my icebox or maybe will have it just drain into something that will catch the melted water but this seems like such a PITA....

Our 1985 28 had the hose looped up to a hand pump that would pump the water into the sink. We had to rebuild the pump a couple of times. I wonder if a previous owner of yours gave up on the pump and just removed it letting the water run down to the bilge.

Any water that leaks anywhere in that area should be able to make its way along the hull into the main bilge. Where are you seeing it collect exactly? It's possible that you have a clogged limber hole that is preventing the water from draining where it should.

On the very similar 34 the drain hose ends under the floor panel that is under the companion way ladder. It drains to a shallow area aft of the keel stub.
As any water can lead to keel bolt corrosion, my plan is to add a shower sump pump in the keelstub area and run the ice box, shower and ac condensation drains to it.
In the meantime I have a small cork in the drain to keep water ànd the cold in.

I think originally the hose drained to the bilge....I say that because there was an O'Day 28 at our club that once had spilt milk in the frige and it spilled and ran into the bilge where it didn't smell so good..
our 272 sink pump drains into the sink which I think is a better solution although currently our fynspray pump is going o it's 24th year not working....so we bought a little aquarium pump that sits in the fridge bottom and has a hose that reaches the sink...the pump is elect. but I coil it up so its never in the water or wet. Just plug it in in the galley when needed once or at most twice a weekend.
We did try the repair kit for the fynspray pump but it did not work either. Our fynspray pump did not work from the day the boat was commissioned.
