Hello, I had a bad over-ride on my winch and the line got so jammed I could not free it. I had to remove the top cover and the feeder. Now I can't figure out how to put it back together. I did some searching and learned I have Lewmar WaveGrip self tailing winch. To remove the feeder arm I removed 4 screws, then I lifted off the cover, pulled out the two collet's, then the feeder lifted off and I freed the line. When I went to put it back together the parts did not fit. I put the feeder back on, then the collets, but the cover does not fit and only 2 of the 4 screws line up. Any suggestions? I can take the over one apart, but if I missed something simple I would rather do it that way. Thanks! Barry

I would go to Lewmar's website. You may be able to download the service instructions or view them on the web.

Look at another wench

on your boat by carefully taking another one apart. Assuming you have two of the same type. Good luck.

Your wife might get upset with you if you

look at other "wenches". :) Here is a schematic for your winch - see link

Did you make sure your feeder (part 3 )

is covering the stripper ring (part 6)? If you get that right, then you should just be able to rotate the cap over the collets until evrything lines up. (We just serviced all our winches last weekend.)

All fixed!

Hello, I went to the boat at lunch time and fixed the problem. The main spindle needed to be lifted a tiny bit so the collets would slide in all the way. Once I did that all the parts went back together in 10 seconds. Then I taped a broom handle to my boat hook and I was able to get the spinnaker halyward that was up near the spreaders. Then I washed most of the bird poop off the boat. It was a very productive lunch!!! Thanks to all, Barry
