1986 hunter 31 spreader brackets

hello everyone,
I am looking for a spreader bracket for my 1986 hunter 31.
The ear of the bracket has broken off and the bracket is welded to the mast.
The spreader still has the ear pinned to it . We have taken the mast down to fix this. I thought about just having the shop at the marina just weld the ear back on. I haven't had muck luck with finding any parts for our boat. Any help would be great. thanks

Why is welding the bracket not a satisfactory solution? Most of the early Hunter rigging came from Rig-Rite( http://www.rigrite.com/A-Main/spar_M.html ). My 1979 Kenyon mast has bolted on spreader brackets and I can still buy those from Rig-Rite. Not sure about 1986.

welding sounds like the way to go for me. If I found a new bracket i would have to grind off the old one and re weld new one back on anyway. Thanks Ed

Is this a situation where the spreader slides over the bracket and the break is inside? In other words the weld is inside and has to be ground smooth? The bracket is stainless I assume. Just be sure that the person welding knows his stuff.
