1985 Hunter 34' Pedestal Guard

Hunter 34 1985 Jones Creek , Baltimore Md.,
I have a Yacht Specialties/ Merriman steering system without a pedestal guard. Have seen many of the same boat with one. Will a edson guard top plate work on this pedestal ? Never realized how many times I probably grabbed it on old boat .

I purchased a used Edson guard, plate, and footings with just the same idea. The Edson plate did not fit my Merriman pedistal. I am having a plate cut out of white Starboard which will mount on the outside of the pedistal. I think it will work fine. Installing it myself, the whole cost will be about $200.

Check the salvage yards. There were many boats that used the Y/S pedestals.
