I am trying to learn more about my 222 I bought last fall and have had a great time sailing on Buck's Lake this summer. The on-line info states that it has 800 lbs of ballast. Is this lead in the keel? I have read some earlier posts about the 1984 not having enough mast support and needing a stainless pole added. Is this really necessary? This next question may sound silly, but I have thus far had the boat heeled at about 15 degrees close hauled. Is this about max for this boat ? I realize there are many factors involved here, but a general answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought mine last summer too, so I am probably not the one to answer any tech questions. Do you have a clinometer on board? 15 degrees is comfortable. I have had her over to 25 for awhile. I,once, laid her ove... not something I ever want to do again. This was from a combination of conditions that I will not repeat. Yes the balast is in the keel not the centerboard. I have not noticed a need for any additional support for the mast. I hope this answers some of your questions.
