1983 Hunter 31 what length Mast Mate?35 or 42

I am looking to get a Mast Mate for my 1983 Hunter 31.
Does anyone with the Hunter 31 have a Mast Mate 35 foot and does it work okay or do I need to get the longer 42 foot?
