I have a 1983 Hunter 30 with a Y/S Pedestal wheel and I am looking for accessories for it. Basically, I want to be able to mount my Garmin Chartplotter to it and also have a few cupholders and maybe a table. Does anyone know of a place that sells a guard for it so I can attach this stuff to it? I understand Y/S went out of business in the early 90's.

Thanks.

Not sure if the YS pedestal on my 1980 Cherubini 36 is the same as yours. And I couldn't find a clear picture of the 30 in the owner's section of SBO.

But for what it's worth, here is a picture of mine. Are you just missing the SS tubing? If so, any marine tubing shop can probably bend tubing into just like my picture.

Or instead of the perfect semi-circle arc, use these type of fittings and make the top square. http://www.jamestowndistributors.co...amilyName=Rail+Fitting/Elbow+S/S+90+Degree+1". For this, you could just buy the tubing, cut it yourself, and install.

Attaching the tubing to the cockpit sole can be with these: http://www.jamestowndistributors.co...familyName=Whitecap+90+Degree+Round+Rail+Base

The URL links assume you have 1" tubing.

That pedestal looks exactly like mine...except the part under the compass is white. Looks like you have the wheel brake too (which I want). Did your boat come like that? I need that white piece you have which connects the pedestal to the tubing. Is that a generic piece that I could get from somewhere else?

Yes, my pedestal when I bought my boat was as pictured. If your pedestal does not have the white piece, which as in my picture the SS tubing goes through, my guess is not worth trying to fit. To do so, essentially the entire steering system will need to be dismantled.

Do you have a garage full of miscellaneous power and hand tools for custom fabrication of wood? If so, I might be able to venture an idea where you could affix a piece to the pedestal tube onto which you could mount some instruments and also a SS tubing guard if that is what you want. And without drilling into the pedestal tube. Let me know and I will try to describe.

I think that the part you are looking for that Rardi has is an Edson part.

They came in 9" & 11" centers (or something like that).

I bought a used Edson pedestal guard and the ring did not fit my YS pedestal. I have decided to cut some starboard and mount it to the pedestal with "L" brackets/screws and the holders at the bottom that came with it.
