the boat im purchasing does not have any ground tackle equipment such as rollers / windlass. looking for some ideas on how other owners handle this , or do you just keep your gear stowed in the locker all the time and use the old elbow windlass to anchor

First gather the required data about the boat.

• Displacement
• Power type (ie. 12V, or 24V)
• Water depths of cruising areas
• Bottom types of cruising areas
• Length from battery to windlass location
• Size of anchor locker
• Depth of anchor locker (deck to anchor lock

Decide on manual or powered retrieval

Armed with such data you can begin to map out your project.

1. Length of chain,
2. Length of rode (ie. Rope to attach to chain)
3. Power cable lengths
4. Size and type of anchor
5. Windlass type
6. Bow roller location
