1981 Hunter 27 fuel tank replacement

The 1981 Hunter 27's fuel tank is located directly behind the diesel under the cockpit floor and is surrounded by by 3 wood bulkheads. One to port and starboard, and then another between the diesel and it. My tank is leaking and needs to be replaced. As of now it looks like I can slide it out by removing the wood bulkhead between the engine and the tank. Has anyone had experience with this before? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I pulled the tank out of my 1984 27, by removing the bulkhead between the 1/4 berth and the tank. It was not hard to remove, about a dozen screws and it came right out. This gives you lots of room for working on the tank and doing any work on the pedestal lower even the exhaust can be reached.

Victory

The fuel tank easily comes out once the wood panel by the quarter birth is removed. Some of the screws are a little tricky to find. Thanks for the help.

Glad that worked out for you. I will be pulling the bulkhead out to run wiring for my new ST60+ units.

1981 Hunter 27 replacement fuel tank???

Has anyone purchased a replacement fuel tank? And if so what manufacturer? I am having trouble finding a tank of similar size. I have found some that "may" fit by MOELLER, but I am just checking to see if anyone else has had better luck.
