Hello, boat friends, these are pictures of the front end of my 1981 Hunter 22. I'm surprised at the gap in the seam between the hull and the deck. It really does look like this is the original form. Is this normal? Is there anything I should do to tighten this up a bit? That white caulk you see in there has been there at least 10 years and from what I can see there's been no significant recent movement. And it's not being pulled up by the fore stay chain plate, because the chain plate wasn't even tied on to the deck it was just screwed to the hull.

I was not a Hunter dealer until 1984 when the 22 was being phased out. Under what conditions were you sailing in if that is the case because I need to know. What sails were being used? The forestay chainplate was screwed into the deck but was it machine bolts or wood screws? The chainplate I believe had a welded strap to it. Please provide a photo of the chainplate. I did not see the tie rail nor the bow pulpit. Photos. Need additional photos showing the fore deck on top facing foreward and another the hull to deck joint to and from
I have someone who may be able to help me but you gave very little to go on. First, was all gear in place to include toe rail? Was the chainplate held by bolts vs screws? Was the strap Of the chainplate broken off? Was the rig over tightened? There may be other questions but you gave us very little information to go on.
