"Older H22" Peoples,
I'm looking for a replacement / salvage (1981) H22 cockpit cooler lid.
I have a salvage boat that I've been working on and sailing for a number of years, and none was installed when bought. This is next on the "to-do" list ... yes it's a long list, but at least I have completed the "to-sail" list and have been sailing her for 5 yrs. Anything out there?

--OR--

Snap a couple of pictures of what the original looks like (including dimensions, if possible) ???

thanks, your help / pictures are much appreciated.

Charlie

Thanks again inarathree, ANY pix / info is much appreciated. I have a fiberglass guy locally who would probably fab it right up (Legnos Boat Industries) right here in Groton.

You know, we should live closer so I can just come over and visit when I need to view / measure something. Given that I live in New England and you in Florida, I vote for ME moving further south !!! Maybe I could see first hand what "winter sailing" is all about ....that really sounds great, but just can't follow through with that quite yet, as I need to work a few more years before I retire to pay for various things. Working on some of those expenses now, some will be coming in the not so distant future. :)

front lip is 2.75" and follows the curvature of the rest of the bench, the rear lip is 1.25". The sides are a straight taper from front to back.

While i guess you can put the hinges where you want, i included the pics and measurements as well. What you can't see in the pic, is that the edge of the cover is at 2 1/8".

Sorry that some are upside down, I don't know why it does that.

Inarathree, EXCELLENT pix ! I very much appreciate your time and efforts. Unlike the Tampa-St Pete area, we're hunkering down for the winter here in SE CT.

Although...lately with the these cold fronts coming through the country, you may need to do some hunkering yourself !

Additional questions re: the lid MAY be forthcoming after I go over the details.
10Q again.

No worries, let me know if you need more info - other than taking it off and shipping it to you :)

if it wasn't heeled over in such an awkward position (see post "Oops...") I probably could have gotten more/better pics.

We call that cooler the Ice Melter. It works for keeping drinks cold for a few hours but that's about it. I use mine to cook in now and store one of those low profile butane stoves in it and a small pot for boiling water and making coffee in the mornings. I do all my cooking there now and the cover helps block the wind too. I use a Bungee to hold it up while cooking.

As you can see in my pic, I store extra line, suntan lotion, a knife, winch handle...

I store misc items as well besides the small bag of ice ... bungee cords, small lines, sunSCREEN .. I have very little melanin :) , and the occassional 'cold one' , uh strike that, warmish-coolish one.

Has anyone ever tried or thought of adding insulation to this compartment to make it more functional, either inside or around the outside in any fashion ??

Mine has rigging in it.

However, if I were going to put ice in it, insulation would be required, IMO. Else there's gonna be some dripping going on as the cool backsides of the box have water condense during the humid summer months.
