My newly purchased 1980 H27 seems to be missing jib sheet blocks which I believe should lead the sheets to the aft winches. Could you tell me what size and type of blocks should be used and where and how they should be attached? Many thanks if you can help.

Snatch Blocks on the Toerail
The standard is two snatch blocks mounted on the toerail. You can change the blocks fore and aft on the toerail to adjust twist of the jib, or for rolling the sail up on a roller furler.

My previous boat was an 81 H27. When I purchased it, there were two snatch blocks made by Ronstan used for the jib sheets. There were no genoa tracks on my boat. The snatch blocks were attached to holes in the toe rail and moved forward or aft to different holes to get the proper lead angle.

I really do not think you need snatch blocks. A couple of single block with snap shackles should serve you well.
