1980 Catalina 25 Swing Keel Operation

Hi folks, I recently purchased a 1980 Catalina 25 with mechanical swing keel. I started to crank up to check operation. It does not have a release to drop down. I wondered if once cranked and raised completely up if it would start to drop back down? I appreciate your help, unable to find operation in online manual or You tube video. My second sailboat was a 1980 C25 swing. The winch has a friction clutch. just turn the handle in the opposite direction and it goes down.

Funny I just experienced exact thing. turn the nut in the middle with a wrench and that lowers the keel. middle of the crank

itmakes sense that turning crank the opposite would lower it but mine just made crank loose maybe I should tighten nut further
