I run a non-profit organization that teaches the youth of today how to sail boats as well as race sailboats. I have resently recieved a hunter 36 that was demasted in a race we attended. i was looking for some information of sizes of sail(foot, and Luff) and mast heights. an if anyone has one laying around that they may want to get rid of. you can reach me at johnpaulsc@aol.com

Cost more than the boat is worth

The cost to replace it may be more than the boat is worth. A couple years ago I had to replace the mast on my Passage 42. The cost to replace just the mast was around $25K. That didn't include any rigging, boom or new sails.

John Paul: I recently aquired a mastless H34. The ability to locate a suitable mast depends on where you look, e.g. try Sailorman.com of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. (this is an excellent place) Also, there are countless boatyards along the Miami River and, in south Florida that cater to both pleasure and commercial sailors. Since I caught wind of this web site, I discovered both good advice and scuttlebutt I woundn't give my former mother-in-law, well almost. Incidentially, I found a 46' mast with the spreaders from another vessel for $250. The mast specifications for your H36 can be found at hunter.com or sailnet.com. Rigging can be made up and, sails are available on a budget or at resonable prices. You have an honorable mission, so don't give up the ship, especially after getting sticker shock advice from someone who is a real idiot, or has more money than they know what to do with. Good Luck.
