1980 33 Where are the serial numbers located?

Greetings!We just sold our 1980 33 (traitors we are, bought an old IRWIN) and the new owner is looking for the serial number inside the boat as the AWLGRIP muddled the numbers on the transom. There are no manufacturer's serial numbers inside the boat. In all my travels throughout the inner confines of my '83 33, including places no normal human being should stick his head, I've never seen a serial number. The only thing you might find would be the documentation number if the boat was documented. There is no real standard for that so it could be anywhere.As far as the sreial on the transom, try taking a tracing from the hull. Paper over the number, rub over it with the side pf a pencil lead. Like a grave stone rubbing, often you can bring out detail that is otherwise not visable.

As Sam Lust said, lead tracing is best and easiest method. But if it was filled all the way smooth will not work. The last ditch solution is to carefully block sand it down until the numbers appear. Of course thisleads to refinishing the pad, easiest with spray can.
