I have recently purchased a 1979 Hunter 27 and am having a problem with broken plexiglass on one corner of the cabin hatch, and water is coming into the cabin. Can someone suggest a way to repair the plexi, or tell me a good source for replacing this hatch? Thanks.

Bud, I and a few others are in same situation, getting a proper replacement hatch. Is there enough of your original hatch left to possibly make a mold? Mine was completly shattered. If enough of us needing replacement hatches got together, we could have the right piece made at a reasonable cost. John

Sounds like the hatch is the same as was on the 30'. Mine was made from molded 1/4" pexiglass. It was broken into several pieces. I glued the pieces together with the special gule for pexiglass, and used the old hatch to make a mold of it. I then purchased a 1/2" thick of piece of pexiglass, heated it up in an oven, (It'll come out like a piece of thick rubber) and then pushed it into the mold. Hope this helps.

Are we talking about companion way hatch or main cabin hatch? If main cabin 13x18 hatch, these are available. If sliding companionway you have a problem.

Mine is a Bomar,which has since been bought out by Pompanette. Just checked their site and they have 2 seconds on clearance at $91. Part #N-1027-10 AX. There is an individual here in FL. that i believe works for Pompanette and sells their products at a good price mail order. I recently dealt with him but can't locate paperwork for phone and name. Ed Shenck,if you read this[as i'm sure you will]could you supply name and number as you have in the past?

Still confused.
Not sure which hatch you guys are discussing. But the other source is Thrifty Mariner, Related Link below. I know a lot of people have been having trouble making contact, hope he is still in business. Others have told me that WM will order the part from Pompanette(www.pompanette.com) and give you a better price.

Ed, Don't know if you have the equivlent on the 37C but on 78 or 79 and up 27' there is a hatch forward end of main cabin. Mine now converted to AC mount. Carl
