I have a 1978 Hunter 27 and am trying to find a transmission shift lever. I lost mine during Hurricane Ike and am trying to put my boat back together. Does anyone have the dimensions of the lever? Can anyone recommend a vendor where I can purchase one? Thanks

That lever looks totally different than the one on my 1980 27. Do you have a tiller or wheel steering? Can you post a picture of the attachment point?

I have a tiller steering and here is the image of the throttle and shift mechanism that is attached to the starboard side of the cockpit. I have the throttle lever inserted into the throttle position. The transmission shift lever is taller and larger in diameter than the throttle lever. Any help in locating one of these is appreciated. Hunter Marine told me this was a Merriman unit and they are no longer in business.

Perhaps a marine salvage yard would be the best place to look. There are a few that will ship nationally. One that comes to mind is "Sailorman" in FT. Lauderdale, FL. Look them up on the net and give them a call. I'm sure there is something you can use in the meantime like a screwdriver that fits into the slot. If you cannot find a replacement take the measurements and that picture to a machine shop and they will make you one. Good luck.

I tried them and was told they had not seen one of these in the last 10-15 years. I think I have found one on a boat that was demolished by Hurricane Ike. If that doesn't work I will continue to search but may go to a local machine shop and have one made. Thanks for the help.
