I think this should be mentioned in the forum someplace but i'm having trouble with the site search.
I am looking for specs on the Roller Furler for a 1978 Hunter 27.
I think it is a Hunter-custom but i'm not sure.
i wish to replace the roller line (rope?) the line comming back to the cockpit to furl.

thanks in advance,

Andrew

Don't know about a 78 but early 80s model used the Furlex 100 and a copy of the owners manual or installation guide can be downloaded from the web page.

My old Hunter 27 (1978) has a CDI Furler. With the jub fuly furled put a few bungies around the sail to keep it furled. Untie the knot on the top of the furling drum (at the base of the unit) and pull the line free. Run the new line (about 35 feet long) from the cockpit through the turning plocks at the base of the stantions and into the furling drum. Thread the line between the cheeks of the furling drum and out the hole in the top (where you removed the old line). Put a stopper knot (square knot?) in ad tie it so there is a very short tail sticking out above the drum. Ther smaller the tail the better. The new line should enter the fruling drum at about 90 degrees. Becareful that the line is not rubbing on the top of the bottom of the drum or the drum cover. The drum cover may have a sharp edcge which can cut the line while you are at anchor. I've been there so I know. Cost me a new head sail. I now always use a few bungies on the furled sailed when I leave the boat.

Most of the furlers are similar unless is a continious single likne unit.....
