1977 Newport 28 shower

Hi Folks. I just bought a 1977 Newport 28. Wondering if any of you use the shower in this boat and if so, how do you keep water from running into the main cabin? It's strange that there's a shower head but the perimeter of the bathroom can't contain the spray. Also, the electrical for the speakers and light just run unprotected from the shower as well. Thanks!

If I ever plan on using this shower ... unlikely as it is, I'd be inclined to separate off the first foot ot so of the bilge and put a separate pump there.

However, the idea of vile shower water ... with hair, body oils and whathaveyou ... in my mind is just not worth it.

I don't want the sink water (galley or head) in the bilge either.

The bilge pump will already work hard enough in an emergency without the hair, dissolved soap and all clogging it ... a really stupid, "cutesy" idea.
