I just purchased a 1973 Catalina 22 and need a few helpful hints or a location to purchase some replacement parts. The table in the cabin is missing completly. I heard that I should be able to build a new one, but need some dims to go off of. Also, does anyone have a clean electrical layout that they used for their Catalina? I would like to redue the wiring since its been in storage for a few years and the wires seem a bit chewed up. Running her at night is pretty much our plan. Any help for a new owner is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

If it fits

it's the right size! On my 1976 Catalina 22 the table can be lowered to rest on the seat edges. An extra cushion then goes on top to make it into a berth. If you need the actual dimensions, I'll make some measurements next time I'm there. I'm re-wiring my boat as well. Two U1 size batteries will be mounted in the center bllge, near where the battery switch goes. I made the bases for them from 3/4" plywood and bought boxes from WM. The bases will be wedged in on either side of the keel hump and the boxes will be strapped down to them. Good ballast! Just finished running 2 14 gauge wires along the top of the port cabin wall, under the teak molding, for the bow light. Plan to run cabin light wiring the same way. There's enough space there so the wires don't get crushed. I don't know where the switch/breaker panel originally went, but I plan to mount one on the panel next to the winch handle, below the companionway. Stern light wiring was OK but a new fixture from WM has been wired in. All splices on this boat will be soldered. Good luck and have fun!

Table dimensions

I took some measurements last night, in case you still need them. The table is 24" wide - it rests between the two seats when down; 39 1/2" long, with rounded (about 4" radius) corners. There is 1 leg made from 1" sq plated steel tubing. Material is 1" thick with wood grain on top. 1" X 3/4" Teak rails 2" from the edge keep things from sliding off. They have 1/4" dowls fitted in them that go into holes on the table top.

Thanks alot. Those response sure will come in handy. I plan on trying to put the table together this weekend. The wiring, weather permitting, will also be tried. Thanks again.
