1971 javelin 14 has a fixed keel

We just picked up a 71' Oday javelin, I'm finding that the fixed keel is a rare item.Trailer is still not available, but the search is on.The Transom is Questionable, I would like to remove, and replace the transom.Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best plan to r&r a transom?My thought was to cut out most of transom, install new marine plywood, fiberglass cloth on the edges wrapping around to the sides, and applying resin over remainder of wood before painting.

if the deck cap can be removed, the wood should be easy to remove and replace. some cut the outer skin off and replace the wood, others work from the inside. could be a lot of work if not needed.
