Mast "T" Ball fittings
Joe, Your mast is probably like mine and has "T" ball plates for the T fittings on your stays. They sell little rubber stops that you can insert into the plates above the T ball fitting, and they're called "Gibb Retaining Plugs." I ordered some years ago from a guy at the Boston Boat Show and I'm still using them. Your stays will never pop out with these plugs in the slots but you still have to be careful during mast raising, that the T ball fitting is seated properly in the plate and not in too far, which can cause it to get twisted. I've been using them for years and I like them. Here's a link to a site that shows what they look like. They resemble a half round rubber cylindrical plug. There's a flat spot on the bottom of the plug, which when inserted into the plate, sits on top of the T ball fitting of your stay. You may be able to buy them on another site a lot cheaper than what this site is selling them for.Joe
