Not Lucky

I went to uncover and clean up my Hunter 170 for spring and found the just inside the rub rail there is a crack about 10 feet long along the side of the hull. The plastic is suprisingly thin along this spot and the crack is clean through. The plastic has pulled apart and is separated about a quarter of an inch. In a couple of areas there are parallel cracks and a section of plastic about half an inch wide has separated and is hanging lose. The hull hasn't been hit or subject to external stress. It was sitting covered and unstrapped. My hull is three years old with a 5 year warantee that calls for Hunter to repair or replace. My question is whether, if it comes up, should I consider repair an option?

As I understand, the raw product was defective when received and when detected, Hunter got things squared away immediately. this occoured on a few boats. I believe I know you who you are and would strongly recommend that you give me a call. Crazy Dave condon

Update

I called Hunter and spoke with Eddie Breeden. I know who you purchased your boat from but wanted you and everyone to know that Hunter is standing behind the boat as they are going to replace it. Hunter goes the distance. Give the warranty boys the Atta Boy Award for today for going the distance Crazy Dave Condon

Chain Saw!

I've been to the factory in East Lyme, CT and saw a 170 with a 1 foot crack. I asked what was going to happen to it and was told that the boat would be cut into pieces with a chain saw then it goes into the dumpster. The plastic manufacturer (AMF?) stands behind it all the way. Great warranty!
