I hauled my 2006 Hunter 31 for new bottom paint earlier this week and decided to change out the prop as well. I picked up a new 16" Max Prop 3 blade feathering prop and was wondering if anyone has installed the same prop on the same model boat? If so, what pitch did you go with? I have searched the forums and have found no information posted by someone with the same make of boat and prop? I was going to start with using the same pitch as my fixed 3 blade I am replacing? Any tips from someone who has installed this same prop on the same boat is greatly appreciated.

I installed a 2 blade max prop on my 33.5 and used the same pitch as my fixed blade. Seems to work fine after 4 years

ask Max Prop

I suspect they would know based on shaft size, transmission, and engine specks.

If you bought that prop new, Max-Prop will have the info for you as to the adjustments. just follow the instructions in the book.

I just purchased a kiwi prop for my H33 with the 29hp motor. it was 1500 including shipping from NZ. Works great going forward. Prop walk to port is a lot more than my old 2 blade. It looks like I'll be backing out to the main channel from my slip.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll update this post after I get the prop installed and try it out. While out for paint we noticed the through hull prop shaft bracket bolts (2 of them) we showing signs of leakage some we gonna pull them, sandblast the shaft, re seat the bracket and change the packing gland...

Even if you didn't buy it new call Maxprop. They were most knowledgeable and helpful and based on their data base they can tell you a recommended pitch for your boat. By the way I love the 3 blade maxprop I put on my 38. Replaced a fixed 3 blade and have loved it's performance.

hello you did a wise choice by chosing the max prop. I have a two blade and works very well. my only problem is prop walk in reverse but use it to my advantage. but as for pitch keep it the same it works just like fixed prop

I'm surprised you have much prop walk. My Maxprop almost completely eliminated the walk.
With a Maxprop you still need to set the angle of pitch when you install it. Maxprop keeps a data base for various boats as reported by past users and they were very helpful with providing the information and recommendations. Their recommendation for my boat was dead on and no tweaking was required. I'm sure if the OP called them they will provide the correct angle setting.
