I don't think you can...

If memory serves me, you can't put a 150 on a Vision. I believe it's due to the geometry of the rig and deck. Sorry this answer is so lame, but I recall hearing at least that much around the office a couple of times in the past... ph.

Hi, Richard

Sorry I missed you in PV. Your boat isn't the one in Marina Vallarta is it? Anyhow, go to the owners' forum and look up Rodger Beard. He put a new suit of tape drive sails on, and he did go to a larger jib. I don't know if it was a 150, but it was definitely over a 110. Rick Dinon

Rick, didn't you say you had one?

Aren't these basically a Cat rig with a small jib, almost as an after thought? With a small J, assuming it might be possible to fit a 150 in, why bother?

Yes, Fred

I had one for nine plus years. Terrific boat. And, yes, it is the same rig layout as a Freedom. However, it would be way wrong to assume the jib is passive. I was really taken by how much the slot it provided added to performance. There is a degree of overlap that I'm told doesn't work well on fractionally rigged boats. About 135 as I recall. But I don't think that's a universal truth and certainly there are a lot of fractionally rigged racers that use 150's and more in lighter airs, so I'm reluctant to disgard the notion. I think the best course for him is to talk to the guy who's done it and raced and cruised with it for a few years. If it were me, I'd look favorably on something in the 125-135 range in a strong laminate that would hold it's shape so you could continue to use her with a reefed main. Rick D.
