I am considering add a 150% genoa to my sail inventory. Are tracks need for the fairlead blocks for the genoa jib sheets? I have a 1985 shallow wing keeled boat.

Yes, You need a Track

Kevin, You will need tracks and sliding blocks for a 150% Genoa. You can look in the archives. To get an idea of what a factory installation looks like, scroll to the bottom left of the main page of this site, click on THE BOATS, and again on "23." You will see the specifications for the H23 and pictures showing the track. Jerry

If you have a second sheave above the. . .

...forestay tang on the mast, run a third halyard and mount the two jib blocks that you removed on the rear quarters of the boat. Voila! You are now set up to fly a spinnaker. The spinnaker sheets run aft to the old jib blocks and then forward to the main winches. Have fun! Peter H23 "Raven"

Shadow Track

Every time that I've looked at the picture, the only thing that I could see is the shadow of the jib sheet running fromthe block back towards the winch. If you look quick, it appears top be a track but I believe it is really just a shadow.

Not crazy, Mike...

Just too long away from the water. It hasn't been a bad winter for us out here near Boston but I sure can't wait to get the boats back in again. My only "boating" experience the last few weeks has been knocking the snow off the top of the tarp. I did climb up into the boat once but spent the whole time "in irons" although the boat was up on the trailer too. That might have had something to do with the way it was tacking that day. -joel
