HAS ANYONE EVER INSTALLED A 150 GENOA ON A CATALINA CAPRI 18? IF SO I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN YOUR COMMENTS. MY 2003 C18 CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH A 135 AND IT DOES SAIL WELL BUT I WONDER IF A 150 WOULD IMPROVE LITE AIR BOAT SPEED.

A 150% or ?

I owned a ComPac 19 for 12 seasons, equipped with a 150% genoa. It worked fine up to about 15MPH breezes. It then required reefing to about 135% size. On my current capri 18, i just upgraded from the standard 110 jib to a 135% on a CDI furler. If you frequently encounter light air (under 10mph), then a 150 might be your best bet. If the winds are often 10mph or greater, then a 135 would be a much more suitable sail. Remember that a reefed genny leaves a rumpled leading edge whether or not you have a foam strip along the luff.

Thanks Russ; I think your right, the 135 is probably the best all around headsail. Steve
