My 1975 Hunter 30' still has the original Yanmar 13hp. I want to replace it and go for more hp without having to do major modifications in the engine compartment. Any sugestions?
Now of course your replacement will be smaller in scale, can't fit a 3gm in a 30' boat, but it will be similar in scale. What engine do you have now? Mines a ysm12, 1980 hunter 30'. Both a used 3GM30F and a new 3YM30 will fit nicely. It's a bit over powewred at that point. I was going to repower my old 79 H30 with a Universal M3-20B, but alas someone bought it. Pat McCartin Inland Marine Diesel Buford, Ga imd_ga@hotmail.com
If your h30 is really 1975 then the two cylinder engine is not original, probably a 2gm yanmar and may not be as old as you think. A 2gm for a H30 is a good match.
