130 years of Beneteau book - now in PDF

Two years ago Beneteau sent me a hardbound copy of a book called 'Beneteau - 130 ans'... a deep history of the company loaded with pictures and details. Love it. fast forward, I recently got a copy of it on PFD, and am sharing that now. Enjoy!

What I have always found interesting is how much sailing is ingrained in French life and culture. When a chemical mix-up at a resin vendor caused bottom blisters on a whole range of boats, it made national news in France. The good news is that Benetau at great cost made it right; they re-did the bottoms of every boat effected, and gave them all a 10-year transferable bottom warranty.

The Great 20th Century Bottom Blister Plague took down more than a few boatbuilders before a cure was found. But it wasn't just a bad batch of resin, it was a failure to understand the material properties of the resins and layup methods.

I just looked, the French-based Beneteau Boutique sell its for about 10 bucks. Shipping looks reasonable.

I got mine when the Beneteau Yacht Club was a paid-for thing, and the joining fee was often offered as a gift or on new boat purchase. The upside was they constantly sent you cool Beneteau swag, I got countless flags, bergees, shirts, keyrings, etc from them for years. And that book. Now the BYC is open and any owner can join. Oh you get a discount from the boutique if you do.
