Hi Bill: This is brand new gear rigged on a new boat. I noticed the riggers put the 120 Receiver about 1 foot above the 2kw Radome. Your manual says it should be 7 feet away minimum. Should I move it? (The radar cable and 120 cable run right next to each other for about 15 feet, also). Also, the Chartplotter seems to consistently display the boat about 50 feet south of the true position. For example, I steer straight down the middle of a well-marked ship channel, and the Chart plotter says I am running over all the bouys and day markers on one side of the channel, 50-60 feet away. The units I have used on other boats seem to be more accurate. Did I get a dud, or is it possible the 120 is not receiving or processing the correctional data from the satellites? Should I try swapping out the 120? Thanks for any help! Al

Active Sensor

This does not sound like a problem with the 120 sensor. Although it might not be mounted in the best place, the position is coming to the Chartplotter display as an active digital sentence. i.e. the Lat and Lon are being transmitted directly from the sensor. If you are not getting a lost fix alarm, then the position should be accurate. I would suggest plotting the Lat/Long on a paper chart to see if it is accurate. With the increased accuracy of these GPS sensors, I suspect you will find some error. The chartplotter then has an offset procedure that will allow you to introduce an offset equivalent to the constant error you are getting.
