Yesterday was the SINGLE day this week with no wind in Minneapolis. But even so, the possibly of breeze got 120 WYC boats out on Minnetonka while the RC tried to set a course and let the breeze fill in. It never did, so we bobbed and drank beer.

Life is damn good.

Nothing like a great float. Rare occurrence here on Lake Michigan.

From "Wind in the Willows": "Nice? It's the only thing," said the Water Rat solemnly as he leant forward for his stroke. "Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolute nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.

Sounds like a great time and all 1st place winners. ;)

Heading for Minnesota this evening. We'll be landing in Minneapolis at 0500 tomorrow. Unfortunately the only boat we can take on the plane is an inflatable kayak.

Those are times when I'm really glad for my electric trolling motor. While of course you can't use it while racing (or maybe you can LOL), it does allow you to quietly ghost along, gives a slight gentle breeze, and a little sense of motion. Not to mention that it keeps the boat pointing in the correct direction.

Of course you could have a lot of fun letting gravity fill the sails, while putting along on the slowest setting. Just watch all those other boats desperately trying to find the same "wind' that is moving your boat. Could by quite humorous till they figure out you are cheating.
