Battery Load Test ??

Robert, What do you mean "goes down" for 5 min. ? I assume the starter never would crank the eng.over, and the Batt. didn`t hold it`s voltage under load. I would check ALL connections, and voltage at any connections you can access.I`ve seen bad cables(corrosion)"inside " the batt. connector`s cause symptoms similar to this. Hope this helps, keep us posted ? Later cecil

....... also goes for a poor connection somewhere in the system. Remember that you are probably passing well over 100 amps when your starter engages. Regards, s/v Island Hunter

the answer

well cecil; you were right. the problem was a battery cable end; all looked ok with a quick look; but when I gave it a good tug the cable pulled right out. O well now i have a rebuilt starter, that cant be all bad on a 26 year old boat. thanks again
