I was able to attack this project with a bit of confidence due to
having been a marine electrician for the US Navy for a dozen years,
as well as an amateur Volkswagen mechanic.
Here's a tip for those Vega owners with the automotive Bosch fuse
holders: Clean the ceramic fuse ends and dimpled holders, then apply
a bit of Vaselene to the connection. This keeps corrosion out while
not causing any increased resistance. Works on battery posts and in
crimp connectors, too. It keeps air and moisture out cheaply.
