12 V power to nav lights

Hi.
I have been uneasy for some time about not having working nav (or
steaming) lights.

To focus on the nav lights: there are a pair of P & S lights on pulpit -
both have obviously suffered impact damage and the corresponding wires
at the 12 V panel under the companionway have been disconnected.

Question - how do the P & N wires get from 12 V panel t0 the pulpit -
they actually emerge from small holes in the SS pulpit.

On the port side there only a positive live wire, lamp is grounded to
pulpit! And I cannot pull any slack forward . Oh yes and the wire is
almost chafed through. (Brown)

On stbd side these are P & N wires , not chafed. (Blue and green)

I'm thinking of just running either a conduit or heavily insulated
three-core (only need two but 220V 3-core insulated cable is cheap)
cable port and stbd from companionway panel to the lamps on the pulpit -
secured using epoxy or ???

Is there a Better Way?

Thanks,

John

John-
I recently rewired my lights after damage to my pulpit. Used twin
lead 18ga wire threaded thru the pulpit on both sides to a terminal
block located in the chain locker on the overhead. The gauge is
rather light, but it was all I could get thru the small hole in the
pulpit. From the terminal block are existing wires that run back to
the distrubution panel. I considered using a single bicolor light
mounted on the front of the pulpit that would not be so vulnerable,
and would use only a single bulb but went with the original setup. I
think it is still a good idea though.

Richard,
thanks very much for that - will have a look for that terminal block over
chain locker tomorrow..
